As then our sewing session turned into this! (I love life with boys!)

We can never get this day back~* yesterday as I carved pumpkins with the boys I called Kevin outside to join us, because it hit me that we only have a small handful of Halloween pumpkin carving sessions before they are grown and I didn't want him (or myself!) to blink & miss it... Each holiday they are a bit older... Savoring this! Parenting is the most challenging and blessed honor on earth.

Happy Halloween! 2012

Orange shirt day     Nov 1, 2102   Why is it so hard to get a picture of all 3 boys!?!

Oct 31, 2012
Can't stop laughing!! I always call Andrew "Boo Boo Bear" ... and I just accidentally said, "Let's go, Poo Poo Pear!" {So hysterical! These boys are totally rubbing off on me! Since when did I laugh so much at poo poo & fart jokes!?!} BTW, feeling so thankful for the friends I have made in SC, I really feel blessed & surrounded by such a wonderful group of girls. God is so good to me! Have a great fun & festive day today!

The cuties

We spent Halloween at my sister's house in San Diego, the boys & I. Kevin had to work, bummer! A friend of mine came over with her husband and son and we took the kids trick-or-treating, along with my niece & nephews. I was watching them while my sister spent the day/night at the hospital with another of my nieces.

There was absolutely no forethought put into the boys' costumes. They are penguins only because a few days prior, that was one of the only costumes that I could find!!! Nothing like the last minute! I did get 50% off. My original intentions were good but never followed through upon because I was waiting to see what the plans were.

Anyways, Jake was darling saying "trit treat!" and then exclaiming "DayDoo!" as he walked away. Austin slept in the stroller the whole time. We had a really nice time. At the last minute, my friend convinced me that I should dress up. She was Poison Ivy, her hubby the Joker, her son Batman... and she felt it perfect because I guess there are penguins in batman or something, so I was Catwoman. Basically, I wore all black with ears and tail (that my sis just happened to have in her closet)... the mask situation was too complicated so I chose the old-school catwoman, with the thick cat eyeliner & no mask.

Well, here are a few pics anyways-- one where Jake is looking, one where Austin is looking. I need a new camera so I can take more/better pics!

Below, Jake's first bubble bath, he was so excited!! And Austin, just being cute.

Pumpkin Patch '08

These photos are from our pumpkin patch excursion on 10/13/08. Jake absolutely loved seeing the animals in the petting zoo. I felt kinda bad because we didn't do the tractor ride this time. This year he would have even enjoyed it a million times more than last! But, alas, my husband was starving, so we had to leave! :) It was still a really fun little afternoon. The boys picked out their own little mini-pumpkin and we got some fresh-picked fruits & veggies. (Yum!!) The corn maze had parts that were knocked down because of the high Santa-Ana winds the night prior, so we weren't allowed inside- but there's a photo of Jake next to the corn stalks. It's amazing how tall they are!! Austin also enjoyed himself. His favorite part was probably when we set him down in the pumpkin patch to get some photos. It was only then that he was finally able to obsess over trying to get a taste of his favorite snack, DIRT. (?)

I promise I feed him, I do!

Finally a Tummy Picture

(and another exciting baby update!)

I think I have ONE "tummy" picture this entire pregnancy, compared to the zillion I have from the last. So in the middle of our Halloween festivities lastnight I passed the camera to Kevin and he took a quick snapshot.

And speaking of this little guy, I was excited to hear at today's appointment that I'm now 2 cm dilated! Glad to hear that all those sleepless (crampy) nights weren't for nothing! Of course, now that I'm term and ready, the last 3 days the contractions have all kinda subsided-- my doctor says it's the "calm before the storm." We'll see if that's what baby says too~*

P.S. Quick little Jake update- he's doing soo good! Walking *everywhere*, learning new words every day. I've lost track of how many teeth he has... he has a bunch and is (of course) working on another. (next to his bottom right molar). He is *always* teething these days! 4 days ago I told him "I love you" and he said "I baa duu". I normally wouldn't interpret "baa" as "love" and "duu" as "you", but he said it in the exact same intonation that I did, and in response to my "i love you", so needless to say, it just melted my heart because I know he was trying to say it back to me!!! He's such a sweetheart!

Trick or Treat

Momma & baby spidee- Lastnight was his first time Trick-or-treating. We had lots of fun, only hit a few houses and then spent the rest of the evening BBQing, bonfiring and passing out candy at my sister's house. It was so much fun!
See pic below: (back row --> front row) Hiroto (Jack Sparrow), Tony (SCAREY 'death'), Kevin & I, Jake (spider), Adam (Tatoo artist), and Nico (football guy Tomlinson?)

More Showers for Baby

My friends at work threw me such a great shower today! It was put together in just 4 days because I was afraid baby wouldn't stay in much longer- Thank you my sweet Natalie and friends! It was beautiful and the food was sooo delicious. (It wouldn't be a true pregnant-Megan post if I didn't mention food, right?) Here's a quick picture of some of the gals-- (yes, I'm wearing the *same* dress as my other shower!)

(Shirlee, Doris, Neena, me, Mary & Isabella, Ola, & Margie)

Another AMAZING Recipe!

"Roasted Shrimp and Orzo"

This is a recipe that a friend of mine made for the shower today, it was AMAZING! So fresh and flavorful. I could eat the entire bowl! It's a Barefoot Contessa recipe, & can be found HERE on the Food Network website. Delicious! (And apparently, very quick & easy!)

Well, the holidays are officially upon us!! It's finally November (can you believe it!?), and the weather is sooo beautiful here- nice and FALLish! We're LOVING it! I always try to stay true to my California Girl, summer-loving self... but the last few years I can't deny it... I really think that this is my new favorite time of year! A summer girl at heart, but fall and (if you can call it winter) is pushing it's way in. COZY fireplaces, warm drinks, scarves & mittens, Christmas carols, rain, and all the scents that go along with the seasons & holidays (pumpkin spice, cinnamon & peppermint, christmas trees), on top of all the festivities and fun with FAMILY... love it!

*~*~PUMPKIN PATCH~*~*

We had so much fun at the pumpkin patch! We took a wagon ride and visited the petting zoo.

The farm had a corn maze and you get to pick-your-own veggies (huge, fresh, beautiful produce!) & pumpkins off the vine. Very cool!

We still haven't had the chance to carve the pumpkin or bake the seeds because we headed straight to Carlsbad afterwards to spend some time with family. Nothing like the last minute! I think we'll be doing some carving in the morning! And then it's down to San Diego for some more family Halloween fun.

Here's a pic from dinner tonight. Jim, Judy, Jake, me, Kevin, Danielle, Aunt Carleen (visiting from Portland), Brian (*finally* home from the fires!), and Robby.

Peek-a-boo!

P.S. (Totally different note.) I just thought I'd throw this out there, as I have a bit of a request. If you wouldn't mind saying a little prayer for my nephew's 3-year-old half-brother, Isaac (and family). He went in to the doctor yesterday for a "limp" (sore leg), today he was diagnosed with Leukemia and will be starting chemo tomorrow. Such a terrible turn of events within a matter of days, all stemming from a seemingly benign little ailment (a limp). Thank God that they took him in so quickly, and that we can find peace and hope in knowing that he is in God's hands.

Some Cutie-PaTootie Boys!!!

Here are the cousin-boys, Jake & Robby, in their Halloween costumes. They were so cute together! (Spider & Cheetah)

Kevin's Aunt (Carleen) was in town to visit & got to meet the two 'great' nephews for the first time. It was such a nice time hanging out, but I'm afraid I was a little tired & preoccupied, that I feel like it flew by too fast. I barely got to 'really' talk to anybody & am so *totally* bummed that I didn't even get a picture of Jake with his great auntie!!!! What is wrong with me!?!? (Have you ever done that? Gone to a get-together, and drove away thinking, "I barely *really* talked to anybody!")

Chalk it up to my hurty/crampy pregnant tummy... which is actually a good thing because today we have an exciting progress report... I'm 1 cm dilated!!! Not that it means much- last time I was 1cm for 3 weeks before Jake actually came. But it's still exciting! The doctor could feel baby's little head (he's head-down, obviously). The closer it gets, the more excited I get. I can't wait to hold my sweet baby boy!!

So I'm (pretty much) ready for him to come. I do want him to stay in at least another week, of course. (He'll be "term" on Wed, plus Grandma Judy has to get back in town first!) But it feels soooo good to have my biggest 'loose ends' finally tied!! His closet is done! Changing table ready! Cloth diapers in the mail- and my grandma, mom & I are having a diaper-sewing marathon tomorrow to fluff up my stash. And the most exciting thing ever... is THIS!!! (see pic)

I know it's not baby-related, but it's been hanging over my head for so long and it makes me feel more organized & 'ready' run this home more effectively in the midst of mommy-of-two-hood. Whatever that means, I can't really explain it.

Before Jake was born we tore out our storage nook, with the intention of getting a desk & storage unit to put in it's place. (We did it because Jake's room was the 'computer room', and so we would need a new place for the computer stuff.) I've regretted it ever since, because we lost a ton of storage, but never replaced it with a desk or storage! For the last 17 months we've been sitting in a chair, crouched over a piano bench (our make-shift "computer desk") in this empty nook in the living room/hallway. Ugh! So ugly, embarassing, & uncomfortable!

So my wonderful father-in-law, who is the most talented wood-worker I've ever seen, offered to make us a custom unit. Look at how PERFECT it is!!! I can't believe he made it for us, and how it fits our needs so perfectly. We have storage and a desk and, on top of that, it's BEAUTIFUL! (P.S. the keyboard & mouse will go in the drawer... we just have to adjust the wood a little because our keyboard is thick.)

Before Jake was born, he also made us the most amazing changing table ever-- I told him what I wanted, showed pics for ideas, and he *made* it. Everything he's ever made us has SOOOOO exceeded my expectations/imaginations! I just can't say enough about it! So I had to show it off. (P.S. the wood looks a little orange in the picture, but it's not, it's a perfect brown.)

So I am able to take all of our 'office' stuff (envelopes, stamps, bills, files, pens, etc) out of the boxes & baskets, bags & piles, and they now have an organized home and we have more living space. Feng Shui! Ahh it feels so good! Stay tuned... we have more projects on the way in the next few months!!! (A new linen cabinet, drawer set, and toddler bed!)

I know, my blog is super exciting, right? LOL
Sorry!

Fire update- family is all well and properties intact! Sis still at friends house with the baby. Their home & business is fine but their neighbor (4-houses-down) lost their home. These fires have been so devastating to so many. On a bit brighter note, Jake got to go outside today for the 1st time in 5(?) days. He was LOVING it! So nice to be able to breathe a bit better! Things are looking up as the fires are moving away from homes and getting closer to containment, but the firefighters are still working around the clock.

Anyways, hopefully this next week brings some fun and exciting things. Halloween fun, pumpkin carving, maybe some creative creations (knitting, sewing, scrapbooking), yummy cooking, family time, and of course some more cleaning/organizing... that's my plan anyways. What are yours?

Me & Jake (monkey), Shawna & Shane, Noel & Ava (lion)

Happy Halloween!!!

Good friends, good food, darling kids...

I had such a wonderful, relaxing time at my sister, Shawna's house this evening.

I was planning on spending the evening solo, passing out candy to trick-or-treaters. This was so much better!!!! I have two huge bowls full of candy to find a home for now. (I keep eating them!) I'm so thankful for time well spent. I always feel good after leaving Shawna & Howard's... no drama, just relaxing time spent with authentic, down-to-earth people. Love it!

I had to include this one too because you can see Ava in her "mane"

Thank you, Vanessa, for the beautiful music!
