Mommy Dates

Austin playing Uno with me on our most recent Mommy-Austin date.

. & this was after my mommy-jake date. Look at those snuggles! We were so freezing that we got hot cocoa, but left the coffee shop and hunkered down in the car (heater!) and made rubber band bracelets together. I can't figure out who needs these dates more, them or me! Can't wait for my Andrew date on weds!

Maybe I'm too strict… my 4-year old just asked me, in all seriousness, if he has to be 61 or 92 (yrs old) to play Ghost Squad. So funny! Since I have no idea what it is, I thought 10 was a good compromise.

10.23.2013

We don't have a phone in our house, but we do have an old-school phone (with a cord!) in the garage for emergencies. We never use it. So today, as Andrew (4yr) and I were getting out of the car, that phone (randomly!) rang. Andrew heard it, and asked a few times, "What's that bell?" Giggling at the fact that Andrew has no idea that that 'bell' is what a normal phone ring sounds like! I feel old!! lol

This morning the boys and I started our day by looking through old scrapbooks in bed. When we ran across a BABY picture of Jake on a play mat, with our old GREAT DANE (Daisy) lying next to her, Andrew asked, "Is that a bear or a wolf?" lol

8.06.2013

This morning I was waking up slowly to the sounds of the boys playing, and I heard Austin say: "Andrew! You look bigger today!"   ... So cute to hear his brothers making him feel special on his birthday! I can't believe my BABY is FOUR today- How did that happen? So blessed~*

Mother's Day 2012  ~

May 13, 2012      The boys each chose a flower for me. Kevin made me come, & I'm glad he did because it was SO precious! so precious.

My eclectic collection from my cute boys! Love it so so, so much!

The boys had so much fun scrapbooking last weeks Wild Animal Park trip!

5.15.2013

Purely exhausted, but so content. Finally came home to relax at 9pm for the first time since I left at 7:30 am! Gearing up for another full (but great!) day tomorrow- Feeling thankful & praying for renewed energy in the morning! (anyone else with me on that one?)

This was BEFORE I read the sign about the contaminated water... Best mommy award today!

He definitely marches to his own drum!  I love his sock choice!

Andrew and Grandma ... this was Drew's first time on the front (bow?) of the boat. It's super windy up there, obviously. And after I took this pic, he kept making that face. He said he was "letting the air in himself" and that he was "eating it all up". When Jake went up there for the first time, he said, "I can't breathe!" I forgot how funny it is as a child to experience different things for the first time. Brings back some of my childhood memories.

Cute Jake! He surprised me with how much he loved jumping off the boat and swimming in the deep dark lake!    *brave*

cute smiles!

Umm... that's not good!

2/14/13  Andrew is struggling to learn the "I love you" symbol

2/13/13   How many of my friends are finishing valentines after bedtime right now? This is actually very relaxing. Thanking hubby for that cold glass of bubbly too, after a day like today! Happy Valentines Day!

10.29.2012

My 3 yr old, Andrew, told me this as we were making dinner tonight:

"I love you so much that the planet is going to make a big rocket plane for us... well, and you can be the blast girl that makes it blastoff."

I am not sad, I am just trying to manipulate you. But I'm cute, and I know it.
He's learned so many tricks
The lip is the newest one. We ignore it, of course. Andrew makes me laugh! (he will never see me laughing at the lip, though. because it needs to get NO attention! little punk!)

They inspire me to be better!

Both boys adore their baby brother, and they express it completely differently!! It is so much fun watching their little personalities develop and also watching how they relate to each other. Today I caught myself imagining them at different stages in their lives, trying to envision their friendship & bond, as well as ours... In grade school, on family vacations (hiking, kayaking), in High School, playing sports, married with kids at family get-togethers...

I'm trying to convince myself that my children won't leave me completely. I have this notion that girls never leave their moms, they're always close... but boys always do. What a heartbreaking thought! But I don't think about it, at least not for more than a minute! I want them to live close, I want to be close to their wives and their children, I want them to still talk to me alot- but I don't want to be an overbearing mother-in-law, I want to let go. One of my biggest hopes for my boys is that they will be wonderful husbands and fathers. I'm so thankful that I have some years before any of this comes to pass! LOL I really cannot imagine ever living without them close. Some kids MOVE (!) away from their parents... as in, states or even countries away! (gasp!) I will not think about that!

Anyways, those are just some random thoughts that were running through my head as I watched the boys play in the yard today. They were filling each other's gas tanks & 'fixing' the tires on their ride-on toys. They really are adorable!!

So back to the boys and Andrew...

Jake is completely enamored with him ... always wanting to snuggle him. He wakes up in the morning and says, quietly, "I yuv you Andrew! OOOOOHHHH, you're so CUTE!!! I yuuuvv youuu!!!!" as he gently rubs Andrew's face and head, and sprinkles him with little kisses. It's so sweet!

Austin also adores Andrew, but he shows it a bit more energetically.

He wakes up in the morning, and YELLS, (no matter how close or far away from the baby he is), "GOOD. MOOOR-NING EE-DREW!!!!! I. YUUVV! YOU EE-DREW!!!!" (It literally echoes throughout the house.) Austin will blow raspberries on Andrew's tummy, arm, or the top of his head. He will bring pacifiers and stick them in this mouth and pat his little round tummy. He tries to help me burp him, and of course he also plasters him with kisses.
And isn't this picture (below) just perfect? Doesn't it completly demonstrate what I'm trying to describe?

They are such good big brothers!

9/24/09 Age: 7 weeks
Here are some photos of Andrew that I took yesterday at the park.

P.S. I did it, I took all 3 boys to the park by myself! I went to a tiny park by my house, because Austin still gets into situations at big parks where we sometimes need to climb up and help him. (He is a climber and he's not afraid of big ledges). It was a successful trip... We got some coffee & lunch, brought it to the park and I laid out a blanket. Andrew & I sat, I ate and worked on my Bible Study, and the boys ate & played. We were the only people there, and there are only 3 slides & a swing, so it's nice & small. Little trips like this will build my confidence to attempt bigger ones. Still haven't tackled the grocery store with all 3!
Kevin went back to work after 6 1/2 weeks off. It was wonderful having him home. We are a great team and the boys were on cloud 9. After a week without him around, I finally have a taste of what it's like having 3. (Everyone asks, and I say it's GREAT because Kevin's home! I got to sleep in almost every day for 6 weeks!)
So, it's still going great, but of course the house is messy and I'm tired. We have hard moments, but don't we always? The biggest accomplishment, in my opinion, is that I have managed to get all 3 boys to sleep at the same time for naps. That is HUGE!
These kids
I love them

6 week update

9/17/09 6 weeks

Dr appt update from his 6 week check:
13 pounds, 6 ounces and 24 1/4 inches
What a big boy! (95th percentile)
I was happy to hear that his clavicle is completely healed. He never seemed to have any pain, so that was always reassuring.
I love his little smiles these days! I think he smiled very early! From birth he did sporadic smiles that were probably 'gas' as they say. But as early as his 2nd week he began to make more smiley facial expressions interactively. By 4 weeks he was giving us his adorable, full-blown smile. He has become a lot more social, though, in the last week or two. I love it! I love babies!!! He's so precious!
